1st Verse:

When I first became a Christian ,
I thought I knew everything
but life’s storms battered my soul and tested my faith. 
But now God fights my battles,
for I’ve learned to trust in Him. 
And when I can’t see no way thru,
He shows me He’s God again.

Chorus:

He may not answer the first time I call
because He wants me to pray. 
He may not answer the second time,
He wants me to grow in faith. 
But my Lord knows my needs
and He knows my every care
and I know when I need Him most,
Jesus will be there.

2nd Verse:

In this ever-changing world that we’re living in,
I see signs everywhere of my Lord’s coming again. 
But those signs they don’t scare me,
for I know they’re in His plans,
and if this world gets to be too much,
God will shield me with His hand.
